SURVEY RESULTS Thanks to all who participated in our recent survey regarding international tournament scheduling. The main question was, when two 5 day, 9 round internationals follow each other in the same location, how much time (rest days) should be in between? Choices were no time, 1/2 day, 1 day, 1 1/2 days, and 2 days. Those responding to this survey preferred ONE DAY.

The ACO World Amateur Chess Championship takes place from 6-15, July 2012 as an open tournament.
Any player under 2400 ELO can represent his country and become a World Champion in his rating group!


The tournament is played in the following rating groups:

  • A: 2201 - 2400  B: 2001 - 2200  C: 1801 - 2000  D: 1601 - 1800
  • E: 1401 - 1600  F: 1201 - 1400  G: 0 - 1200

Including Galadinner & Prize giving ceremony 7 Star Hotel Burj Al Arab




Three places per country and rating group only!
Decisive is the order of registration - First come first serve!

A maximum of 3 players per country can participate in the same rating group.

For players having both an ELO-rating and a national rating, the higher rating counts for the group classification.

For the division of groups we consider your ELO/national rating at the moment of registration.
