A new shopping cart is available for online entry in CCA tournaments.
The new cart makes inputting your entry info much faster, especially if you set up a profile that you can retrieve each time you enter a CCA event.
The new shopping cart also instantly posts online entries on the web, so entry lists are automatically updated every time a player enters online, not just once or twice. You may also receive a confirming email, but if you don't see one, just check the online advance entry list to make sure that you are entered and are in the correct section and schedule. Players have the option of viewing entries alphabetically, by section, or both. Mailed and phoned entries are also displayed, but often with a week or more delay. To view advance entries for any tournament, go to chessaction.com, find the name of the tournament you are interested in, and click on the "advance entries" button for that tournament. Warning: You may sometimes see no one in your section a week or two before the tournament, or only a few players a day or two before. Do not be concerned; this is caused by a large percentage of the eventual players entering in the last day or two or at the door. And don't look online to see how many Grandmasters are playing, as except for a few special events, usually almost all enter at the door. If you want to get an idea how large or strong a tournament or section is likely to be, the advance entry list is NOT a good way to find out! Far better is to check the CROSSTABLES section of our website for last year's final crosstable.
